GM Lord Lieutenant Visits Project RECCE

On Wednesday, 5th July 2023, Project RECCE CIO HQ in Romiley had the honour of hosting a special guest, Mrs. Diane Hawkins JP LLB, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester. This prestigious visit marked an important occasion as Dandara Ltd, a prominent construction company with an annula turnover in excess of £750m, signed the Armed Forces Covenant in her presence. The event brought together beneficiaries, ambassadors of the charity, and industry partners, creating a meaningful gathering to support and honour those who have served their country, and now look for career opportunities in construction and STEM industries.

Project RECCE CIO Headquarters buzzed with anticipation as Mrs. Diane Hawkins arrived and was greeted with a salute by our Chief Operating Officer, John Davies, a serving Army Reservist. Arguably the most prominent citizen in the county, Mrs. Hawkins's presence added a touch of importance and reverence to the occasion. Her passion for community engagement and dedication to honouring the contributions of servicemen and women made her an ideal guest for this event.

The main event for the day was the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by Dandara Ltd. The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge made by organisations to support those who have served in the armed forces and their families. By signing this covenant, Jim Davies, CEO of Dandara Living and Nicky Henderson, Director of HR, Dandara Ltd demonstrated their commitment to providing fair opportunities, equal treatment, and support for veterans, reservists, and their loved ones.

Mrs. Hawkins had the opportunity to meet with beneficiaries of Project RECCE CIO, a charity dedicated to supporting veterans and their transition into civilian life. The Lord Lieutenant engaged in conversations with the beneficiaries, listening to their stories and experiences. This interaction shed light on the challenges faced by veterans and highlighted the importance of initiatives like Project RECCE CIO in providing them with the necessary support and guidance.

Additionally, ambassadors of the charity were present to share their personal journeys and express their gratitude for the support they received. These individuals, who have successfully reintegrated into civilian life, serve as inspirations for others facing similar transitions. Mrs. Hawkins commended their resilience and emphasised the need for continued efforts to assist veterans in their journey towards a fulfilling post-service life.

The event also provided an opportunity for industry partners to showcase their collaboration with RECCE. These partnerships play a vital role in providing veterans with employment opportunities, training, and skills development. Mrs. Hawkins took the time to recognise the contributions of these partners and encouraged other companies to follow in the footsteps of Dandara Ltd by signing the Armed Forces Covenant and supporting veterans in their respective industries.

The visit of Mrs. Diane Hawkins, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, to the charity Headquarters on July 5th, 2023, was a remarkable event that celebrated the commitment to supporting veterans and their families. The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by Dandara Ltd, in her presence, was a powerful symbol of corporate social responsibility. By engaging with beneficiaries, ambassadors, and industry partners, Mrs. Hawkins reinforced the importance of community support and collaboration in helping veterans successfully transition into civilian life. The event served as a testament to the collective effort required to ensure that those who have served their country receive the recognition, support, and opportunities they deserve.
