About the Role
This role will be working on a strategic infrastructure program where Balfour Beatty has been appointed as the delivery partners to deliver a defence infrastructure project in a safety critical environment. The project includes many aspects of heavy civil engineering and has an approximate total value of £100m.
The HSE Advisor will support the planning and safe delivery of the project. Informing Balfour Beatty and the client on all statutory and best practice requirements throughout design to implementation.
You will have the following accountabilities:
Undertake planned project inspections and tours
Deliver pre-work site inspections to evaluate and address potential risks at planning stages
Review, track and trend unplanned events and support project / site management in their completion of investigations
Support local management in their liaison with clients and contractors by attending meetings and other events such as working groups
Prepare written reports following all site visits, inspections, audits, and investigations
Review and update Project documentation
Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and the Zero Harm Events Calendar
Ability to communicate and promote a positive Health & Safety culture
Ensure effective communication of essential safety documents, e.g. safety alerts / bulletins
Requirements
Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our Regional Civils team based in Plymouth.
The following qualities/experience are required: -
NEBOSH Diploma OR equivalent
GradIOSH working towards CMIOSH
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) competence
Hold OR be willing & able to undergo security clearance through United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV)
Good understanding of CDM2015 Roles and Responsibilities
Competence in incident investigation
Demonstrable experience in a health and safety advisory role within construction.
Strong HS&E legal knowledge and practical application
Experience of delivery of HS&E training
Proven ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture
Demonstrate ability to develop and implement risk free environment using best work practices and innovations
Proven track record delivering H&S support to multiple project teams
An exemplary communicator and able to build and maintain positive professional relationships at all levels
The following qualities/experience are desirable: -
Environment / Sustainability qualification
Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and or 14001)
